    These are the descendants of Richard Derwas, the third son of the eleven children listed on the previous 'page'.

    Hilda was the eldest and married Thomas Morris, a farmer, and had 3 children. The first born were twins, a son and daughter, the son dying in infancy to be survived by the daughter Elizabeth who married John Mason, a butcher. The 3rd child was a son Thomas who took over the farm on his father's retirement. Thomas senior died in1991 to be followed by Hilda who died in March 1992 at the grand age of 93 years.

    Beatrice the second daughter married Douglas Huntley, with his own business in Bath. They also had three children. The first was a son Douglas Richard who married Carol Ann Davies of Pontyclun but who died in his early 40's leaving a posthumous daughter, Claire Josephine. The next was also a son, Hugh, who married Julie Ann Latham of Bath but has no children. The third was a daughter Yvonne who married John Henry Carson of Bath and has 5 sons, Richard, Andrew, Peter and twins Michael and James who all live in the Bath area. Douglas died in the early 1980's with Aunty B surviving him till the late 80's.

    Barbara was the third daughter and married Frank Roberts, a farmer. o They too had 3 children, a girl and two boys. Frances Barbara, the eldest, who married Max Williams of Caersws and has 4 children, Thomas Robert, who married Susan Morgan and had two daughters Angela Rachel, and Alison Rebecca. Barbara Jean, who married Ian Pierce and had three children, Simon James, Claire Joanne and Daniel Jonathon. Richard Duncan, was next, married Rosemary Baynes and had three children, David Michael, Sian Louise born and Christopher James. Michael John was fourth and later married Helen Evans and had a son Richard Thomas. Barbara and Frank's elder son John Frank married Kathleen Angove and has two children, Angela Jane born who later became a Nursing Sister at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, later transferring to the Royal Marsden, Sutton and who married Norman Ore, having two daughters, Rachel Catherine and Rebecca Jane. A son Steven John, married Janette Fisher and is a farmer, having three children, Stacy Jane, David Mathew and Timothy John born.  Last of Barbara and Franks children was Robert Derwas who married Kathleen Lakelin and has three children, Gwyneth Mary who married David Gareth Jones, a farmer and has four children, Roger Edward, William David, Joanne Mary and Elizabeth Jayne. A son Philip Robert was born in 1961 and married Megan Ruth Blower and has two daughters Kate Megan and Lucy Ruth. Bob's youngest daughter Sally Ann was born in 1969. Barbara and Frank retired to a smallholding, 'Lyndale', Westbury in Shropshire where Frank died in the mid 1980's with Barbara not following him until 1999. Robert took over the home farm and John has a farm near Bishops Castle, Shropshire.

   Richard, the only son, remained unmarried and carried on the farm at Bryn Poeth until he died in 1989 at the age of 83. Richard ran the farm at Bryn Poeth on his own and was well respected in the district. Relatives from near and far called on him and I remember tales of the 'family tree' and 'the Welsh' that he told. Richard first bought the 'Dingle' to add to the home farm and later Bausley Farm.

   Catherine Martha (Kate) was the youngest daughter and married Albert Edward Read (Bert) a policeman in Shrewsbury but who originated from Stalbridge, Dorset. Bert was stationed at many places in Shropshire including Woore, Bishops Castle 'the smallest Borough in England', Wellington, Oswestry and Market Drayton, where he retired after 32 years service. They had four children - Bertram Edward Derwas the eldest, born at Woore, later married Margaret Morrey of the Market Drayton area and has two daughters, Elaine and Christine, and is living in Coventry.    Derek Austin Derwas, the 2nd son, currently typing these words, was born in Bishops Castle and married Barbara Joan Millman, born in Twickenham, the daughter of a Royal Air Force officer posted to many parts of the globe, but she died of Multiple Schlerosis on 26th October 1995 aged 58 years. They had three children, Jacqueline Anne, Stephen Paul and Diane Yvette. Jacqueline, the eldest was born in Shrewsbury, and married Simon Andrew Lyde Jenkins near Weston-super-Mare who runs his own Building business from their home in Gloucestershire, and they have a daughter Georgina Marie Lyde and a son Harry Lyde.  Stephen the son was born in Weston-super-Mare where he later apprenticed in engineering to become a Design Engineer and married Annette Karen Milner of Bristol. Diane Yvette, the youngest daughter was also born in Weston-super-Mare and later married Christopher James Lukins, a farmer of Somerset, who had twins born on 31st August 1994, a daughter Imogen Fay who is older by one minute and a son James William. Glennis Kathlene Derwas, the only daughter of Bert and Kate, was born in Bishops Castle and married Charles (Chas) Morrey of Market Drayton who ran his own Carpentry business in the town and was well known as leader of the town's Voluntary Fire Service. Their eldest daughter Shiela Ann married Richard Stewart and has two daughters Heather and Claire. The younger daughter Gillian married Roger Edwards and they live with their daughter Lauren and son Christopher. Rodney John Derwas is the youngest son of Bert and Kate, is unmarried and is currently living in Twickenham, London where he has been a Film Editor and is hoping to become a Film Director.

George Evan the 4th son of Richard and Elizabeth was apprenticed to the Grocery trade in Oswestry but on removal of the family to Gwernefy, shortly after the death of his father, he returned to farming with his elder brother Richard. When Richard married George continued at Gwernefy with his mother and the four younger children. He then married Nellie Gittins who was working in London but whose home had been at Alberbury. They had one daughter Mavis, born 1918, whose death at the age of 25 from tuberculosis was a sad blow to them. George suffered severely from arthritis and they gave up farming and took rooms at Ashleigh House nearby with George's cousin, Kathleen. When daughter Mavis obtained a teaching post at Guilsfield, about 1942, they moved to a nearby house but Mavis died soon afterwards. When George died in September 1945 they were still at Groes, Guilsfield but in the following January, Nellie went to John and Alice at West Norwood, London, to help nurse Alice, who was seriously handicapped with an arthritic complaint. Nellie died in November 1952 and was buried at Guilsfield where her daughter and husband were already interred.

Amelia Ann (Millie) 3rd daughter, born 1870, married David Davies of Crew Green. Their first home was at Churchstoke but later they lived at 'The Isle', Bicton. They later went to live with their daughter Helen and her husband. Millie died in 1950 (on her 80th birthday) and her husband died in 1955. They were blessed with five children. Charles the eldest son learnt the drapery trade in Shrewsbury but died after a short illness at the age of 20 or so. Mildred, the eldest daughter married John Jones of Yockleton, eldest son of Robert Jones. They had one daughter, Dorothy, who was on the staff of the Oxford University Press until her marriage to George Peck of London and they live at Chingford. George the 2nd son was an electrician and later became a Prisoner of War in World War I. He died unmarried in 1969 aged 71.  Helen, the 2nd daughter, married Robert Edwards of Bicton and they had one daughter Mary, who married Gordon Andrews of Pontsbury and has two children, Susan and Brian.  Nora the youngest daughter married Thomas Williams of Bicton who was later severely handicapped after an accident to his hand and arm. They lived at Arleston, Wellington and had three children, Olive, who married Dennis Childs of Wellington and also has three children, Amanda, Adrian and Annellie; David, an electrician with M.E.B. who married Jennifer Corbett of Hadley and have two sons, Stephen and Anthony; Olwyn, the youngest, is unmarried and lives with her mother in Wellington where she works in the Post Office.

Charles Herbert was the 5th son but died in infancy. He is said to have been drowned in a small stream on the farm at Bausley.

William Henry the 6th son lived at Gwernefy working with his brother until it was sold, afterwards living with his sister Mary at Ford. He died in January 1955 at the age of 82.

Ellen, the youngest daughter, married William Benjamin Rogers of Alberbury, who for many years was Head-Gardener to Sir Gerald Corbet at the Old Manor, Preston Brockhurst. They had two daughters, Elizabeth Margaret Winifred and Ellen Mary (May) who are the compilers of the original chronicle. Elizabeth (Winnie) was a teacher and on the death of her father obtained a Headship at Brockton, Much Wenlock, where her mother and sister lived with her. She was later Headteacher at Weston Lullingfield, Ford and Myddle, retiring in 1966 to live with her sister at Cockshutt. Ellen (May) was responsible for school meals at Weston Lullingfield when such meals were introduced in 1939/40. She was also organist for a time at Ford and at Myddle. Their mother Ellen died in November 1955, aged 81.

Frederick the 7th and youngest son was apprenticed to the drapery trade at Ledgers in Shrewsbury, and in later years was responsible for the Linen Department at Maddox and Co. (now Owen Owens) where he continued to work until he was 80. He married Christina Coles of Cruckton and had two sons, Frederick who was killed at Tobruk in 1941, and Edward Frank who joined the staff of Salop County Council on leaving school and is now head of a Welfare Department with the same Authority. He married Clara Olive Pack of Shrewsbury in 1941 and had two children, Wendy, who married David Fordham of London and has three children Emma, Caroline and Giles; Roger, who married Verna Milsom of South Wales and has one daughter Anna Clair. He is now Deputy Head of a large Junior School in Ilfracombe. After the death of his first wife at the early age of 49 Frank married Pauline Knight of Bebbington, Cheshire and they have four children, Helen, Philip, Christina and Alexander. After the death of his wife Christina, Frederick became resident at the Westlands Home at Wem where he died in March 1974 at the advanced age of 97 years, the oldest member of this branch of the family.

     The foregoing has traced 13 generations of the family in some detail from Griffith Derwas and Sir Gruffydd Vychan from the 15th Century and a further 27 generations from Cadeyern Fendigaid, King of Powis in the 5th Century making at least 40 generations of our family that can be traced.
